Spending time with horses can help families build solid foundations based on how horses so successfully relate with each other in a horse herd. Horse wisdom guides us to improving verbal and non-verbal communication skills, set loving but firm boundaries, to build faith, good will and respect with every member of the herd.
Horse wisdom can help families navigate bereavement, grief and loss. A horse herd shows us how balanced leadership that can be applied, not just at work or at school, but in your family group. When you work with horses as a group you immediately become aware of how we are all energetic beings. Horses and humans respond to energy. Unlike humans, horses don’t mask how they feel about the energy you or your family are bringing to them. When horses show us how we are showing up to them. we gain important insight into how we are showing up to others in our life and how this is affecting our family life. Horses are very comfortable in their own skin. Horses can model for us a way to be authentic as ourselves in a family while being respectful of differences. The sessions do not offer horse riding, for the practice is about connection – seeing the horses as other beings, who can teach us lessons for life – helping to regulate our nervous systems, offering emotional safety and confirmation, promoting whole-body awareness, modelling healthy boundaries and authentic leadership.
